Oh What a Beautiful Morning…

Oh what a beautiful day! Today’s weather was just fabulous for January, in the mid to high forties. After we de-Christmased the house and Aiden took his morning nap, off to the canal we went to take a walk. Our friend Shelia and her lovely daughter Skylar joined us and we had a wonderful time. It was nice to get outside and we can’t wait until we make time to get out again.

Chris, Shelia, and I walked, pushed the kids around and talked about lots of things. I caught Shelia up on all the things the mommies in our group have been up to: Erin, Robert and baby Sophia are still visiting family in California, Coleen, Jose and baby Colin are still in Washington state visiting family, Vicky is pregnant with number two, Matthew (son of Fiona and Bill) has been sick. Sophia is going to be turing one this month and we brainstormed some ideas of how to celebrate her birthday. Fiona’s birthday is this month also, so I need to find out what she wants to do for the monthly “mommies only” night out. We talked about our kids, how Aiden just loves to play with Chris and how Skylar acts differently around mom and dad. Aiden was laughing and giggling while we played with him and Shelia mentioned that Skylar doesn’t really laugh. Funny how kids are so different, with their crazy personality traits.

The walk seemed to drain us all of any energy we had left. The rest of the day was very uneventful and even Aiden, who is usually rip roaring ready to play, was on the down low. He was perfectly happy hanging out in his exersaucer. We have noticed something interesting about this beloved toy, it seems to inspire the boy to poop. Doesn’t matter what time of day it is that we put him in it, he will make every effort to take a dump while he’s there. I think it might be becuase it is easier for him to go while standing then when he is sitting, but it just cracks us up. Today we put him in it this morning while we were taking down the Christmas tree and BAM! the stench was overwhelming. This evening, while we watched an episode of Northern Exposure (season 3) he was in his saucer and BAM! again. Quite the phenomenon if you ask me.
