All Done!

Aiden just amazes me everyday. He has really started crawling, but only if there is something to crawl towards. What really amazed me today was when I was feeding Aiden his string beans for lunch, he apparently didn’t want any more and tried to sign finished while saying, “All done!” I wasn’t sure if he really said it or I was turning a sound into a word. However, I tried to give him another spoonful and he repeated both the action and the saying the word. He is our little genius.

My Aching Back

Today was difficult. I woke up with a back ache, making even the thought of picking up Aiden painful. I took a nap in the morning when Aiden napped and hoped that would help it. Nope. And of course, guess what Aiden wanted me to do all day - pick him up! For some reason (I believe he knows that I am off to class in the evening) he was feeling very needy today. Not only that, but he had his first tumble off the changing table. Scared the crap out of me and made me feel like the world’s worst mom. Now I was feeling needy.

During his afternoon nap, I realized that I hadn’t gotten anything ready for my class this evening. I was able to get everything done before he woke (that will never happen again, I’m sure) and even start dinner. Chris came home and I actually had some time to eat dinner with him. Then we did the usual Wednesday evening changing of the guard and I was off to class.

Surprisingly while I was teaching my back stopped hurting. Guess it needed a little break from carrying around Mr. I’m Over Twenty Pounds. Whatever was making it ache was gone and I was thankful. Now I’m home and in bed. Going to watch The Daily Show and possibly The Colbert Report, if I don’t fall asleep first.

2 for 1

Today was a very interesting day. Not only did I find one of Aiden’s upper teeth coming through, but his two front teeth are breaking the gums as I type. I poked my finger in to feel how things were coming and much to my surprise there are two teeth instead of one. When these come out he will have four chompers, two up and two down. Mental note, keep him away from my chin (he used to like sucking on it).

Aiden has also been practicing his crawling. He still does the skydiving when he gets frustrated, but the crawling is coming along. His favorite thing to crawl towards is my laptop. When he is playing in his bedroom I sometimes check my mail, the blogs, etc. and he makes a beeline straight towards it. His latest physical feat is being able to sit up when on his back or stomach. He’s such a strong little guy, well maybe not so little, but very strong. It’s still strange to find him standing in the crib inthe morning, but I’m sure I will get used to it.

Count Your Blessings

Today started out as an ordinary day, until I got a call from Erin, one of the mommies from the group we started. She had been in a car accident (not her fault) and since her husband wasn’t in town, asked if I could stop by to hang out and watch a movie. After I had dinner with Chris and helped him put Aiden to bed, I hopped into my car with snacks, hot chocolate, a neck brace and some movies.

Erin had been driving her sister to the train station and was waiting in line at a light when someone, who obviously wasn’t paying attention, rear-ended her car. Apparently, the person smashed into her car which smashed into the car in front of her which smached into the car in front of them. Four cars in all were part of the accident. Erin and her sister are both fine, but the car is not well and Erin was experiencing some neck pain by the end of the day. Thank goodness she didn’t have Sophia in the car with her as the back of the car sustained most of the damage. She was lucky and unlucky all at the same time.

Anyway, I went over to lend her some friendly support. Not that there was much I could do, but I went just the same. I helped her put Sophia to bed, made hot chocolate and answered any questions she had to the best of my knowledge. I encouraged her to see a doctor about her neck and she is going to look into getting a lawyer. We watched Bridget Jones’s Diary, which was very light and cute. I gave her some pain medication and put her to bed before I left. She doesn’t have family living close so I was glad she had called me and I could at least give her some comfort.

Makes you really think about how much we take for granted. On the way home I thought about all the people that I was thankful to have in my life. Tonight before you go to bed, try counting your blessings, makes for a good night sleep.

Daddy’s Day Out

Today Chris went to visit friends of ours, Heath and Kate, to fix their computer network. What is a mommy and baby to do? Invite some friends over, that’s what!

Shelia and Skylar and Patty and Nathan came over for lunch and some playtime. It was nice to see Patty and Nathan, it’s been since November. The mommies got to catch up on what the kids have been up to and the babies were showing off their crawling and climbing skills. Aiden took a nap in the middle of the visit, but is was fun anyway.

After Aiden woke up and everyone went home it was a bit of a cranky afternoon. Aiden’s tooth is really bothering him, but we are trying to deal with it the best we can. We both missed Daddy and were very happy when he came home. We are all going to bed early so we can re-energize for tomorrow. Good night and sleep tight!
