I Am Losing My Mind

Could it be PMS or just a lack of retention? I realized at the end of the day that I had forgotten to feed Aiden a bottle this morning. What is wrong with me? First Matthew last week and now Aiden, my own son! I am losing my mind. A friend of mine called me today and I was incapable of connecting my thoughts, let alone form complete sentences.

Chris thinks I have too much going on and by the looks of the calendar, it seems I will have a day off by, ummm, next year? No, that can’t be right. There must be a time when I don’t have to go a party or visit a friend or take Aiden to the doctor’s or attend a meeting/class at work or entertain family. By the looks of it February is booked solid and March is filling up.

I have been feeling bad for Chris that he does not get free time anymore and I have completely forgotten to take care of myself. I need to schedule in a day off, but when? So I guess the eternal question is…”Do mommies ever really get a day off?”

Playdate Day

Today Aiden had a playdate at Colin’s house. Aiden was a bit needy, but seemed generally okay about being over his friend’s house and playing with his toys. It was nice to get out and just chill in someone else’s home. Sophia showed up too, so it was a wonderful afternoon out.

Erin, Coleen and I were able to chat when we weren’t playing referee with the kids. Coleen made some wonderful vegatable soup and Erin brought over a super yummy pumpkin cheesecake. I only brought over Triskets which by comparison doesn’t seem like much but went great with the soup.

I successfully avoided cleaning the house again, but will need to get to it soon as Chris’s mom and husband are coming to visit on Thursday. Guess I need to get moving. Wait, the couch is calling me…

Super Bowl Sunday

Today was a pajama day. Aiden had such a terrible night sleep that we all had a terrible night sleep. We stayed in our pajamas until 3 pm. We napped when Aiden napped and tried to keep him from being uncomfortable when he was awake. I can’t wait until this tooth pokes through so we can get some sleep.

By the time we did get dressed Aiden went down for another nap. We felt it was too late to head down to my dad’s for the Super Bowl, so I called him with the bad news. He was okay with it and put us in the pool anyway. Chris and I watched the first half and the half time show. Very disappointing all around. So, we decided to get some work done around the house as we have been a bit slobbish all day.

Aiden slept through his last feeding and we thought this meant he would sleep through the night. How naive we were. At around 10 pm he popped up and was ready to eat. So much for keeping him on a schedule. Oh well, he ate and went down within the hour. Now it’s our turn to go to bed. Night Night!

Guess Who’s Coming To Lunch?

Today I finally found some time to finish my utensil holder at Color Me Mine (it’s been almost two weeks since I started it). So I packed up the family and we all went to meet Tara and Drew at the pottery place (Tara needed to finsih her’s as well). I was having trouble as I needed to find some kind of creative inspiration as to how to finish the design.

Chris, Aiden and Drew went for a walk around the outdoor mall in the misty rain while Tara and I painted. Chris gave me some ideas and I was able to come up with a new design to finish the piece. When we were done I invited Tara and Drew to come over for lunch and they accepted. That makes two weekends in a row that we had them over and we couldn’t be happier. They enjoy hanging out with us just as much as with Aiden and we enjoy hanging out with them.

Aiden has been a bit fussy due to the fifth tooth that is trying to make it’s way through his upper gums. So, we took him shopping because he seems to be better out than if we stay home. He had a ball but since it was getting late he was starting to fall asleep in the cart. Bad parents! I am usually one of those people who say, “Why would they have a baby/child out this late?” and now i’m one of them. How does that happen?

Too Much Brain Power Required

The kids were good today, even though I felt like I was losing my mind. I forgot to give Matthew his bottle in the morning, so when he was getting cranky (more like hungry), I put him down for a nap. It was fine because he woke up only an hour later and I quickly remedied the situation. His schedule was fine after that. Thank goodness the kids can’t talk yet!

I think it’s a good thing it is Friday because I need some rest. Not that this weekend is going to be restful. We have a ton of errands to do and we are headed to my dad’s on Sunday for a Super Bowl Party.

Chris and I were going to pop to the store to purchase some things so we didn’t have to do all the running around tomorrow. I convinced him (it didn’t take much) that we should stay home. Aiden was so happy that daddy was home that he stayed up later than usual. I’m hoping for a good night sleep, but as Aiden has been teething (yes, another tooth is on it’s way) and getting up every hour or so after midnight, it doesn’t seem likely. Guess I will have to take advantage of nap time tomorrow (again).
