Guess Who’s Coming to Dinner Again?
Last night was not a good night. Poor Aiden was up every two hours. My brain is so sleepy. Even though we all took a nap in the morning, we were all still so sleepy. Not much got done in the house, but we were able to drag ourselves out to the grocery store so dinner could be made for our guests.
Tara and Drew came over around 4:30 for dinner. Dinner was not the only item on the agenda though. Chris and I were going to meet my family at Rascals Comedy Club to celebrate my dad’s birthday. So, we convinced Tara and Drew that we needed to cash in our free babysitting coupon we received at Christmas. It didn’t take much convincing, as they love to hang out with Aiden, oh yeah, and us too.
We warned them that Aiden was fussy due to the fifth tooth that has not broken through the gum yet. That’s right, the same tooth that we were waiting for the last time they were here. It is so ready to burst that he is not comfortable, so what do we as good parents do? We drug him of course. Tylenol is our friend.
This was not the first time Chris and I were leaving Aiden in someone else’s care, but this was the first time we didn’t miss him terribly. Aiden is really comfortable with them as he didn’t even cry when we left. Seperation was not bad for us either as we didn’t even call to check in until we were on our way back. We actually enjoyed ourselves while we were entertained by some really funny comics. The host was okay and the first comic seemed a bit green around the edges, but my favorite was Bernadette Pauley and Alan Marx was funny too. It was nice to catch up with the family before the show and laugh our butts off during it.
After the show, we stood around in the lobby for a bit before we decided to head home. There was some discussion about going to Friendly’s or the Coastline, but we were getting tired and no one wanted to make a desicion. Guess we are truly parents, getting sleepy before 10 pm. So, we left the family to figure out what they wanted to do while we headed off to the car.
Tara and Drew looked pooped when we came home. Aiden seemed to have a wonderful time playing with them. They seemed to read his signals pretty well and he wanted to stay up to play with them as much as he does with us. He had them read book after book, not that they minded. The funniest part of their evening was when Aiden had his hand in his mouth to get it nice a slobbery and then wiped it down Tara’s face. He has never done anything like that to us, but it seems he has quite the sense of humor cause he was smiling as he did it. Maybe we have a comic on our hands?
We stayed up for a bit, chatted with them and had dessert. Quite a full day for us and we enjoyed every minute of it. Thanks Tara and Drew, you two are the best babysitters ever!
