Comedy and Ice Cream
Crissy March 24th, 2006
Last night I went out with the gals to a comedy club, The Stress Factory. It was exciting to get out of the house without having to pack a million things into a diaper bag. It was also strange to be going out knowing that no matter how late I stay out, Aiden will be the human alarm clock way too early in the morning. But I got in the car and proceeded to pick up a couple of the gals and experienced an evening without the guys.
I try to coodinate one of these evenings out once a month. I find that if I get some personal time away from the grind of everyday life, I appreciate it more. It’s very hard for me to leave the house, but once I’m out I don’t look back, that is unless it’s past 10 pm - then I get very sleepy!
This month it was Shelia’s birthday celebration and we all had a great time. The comedians were ok and the headliner was very focused on sex, but it was an otherwise interesting evening. It was pretty funny though, because when I came home to give Chris the low-down and was telling him what some of the sex jokes were, his response was, “And what was the joke?” Guess it was more of a “informative lecture” on the comedian’s sex life because I couldn’t remember the punchline! It must be true that some guys just can’t stop thinking about sex or, in this case, talking about it.
Tonight we decided to take Aiden on a spur of the moment Friendly’s outing with Fiona, Bill and Matthew. The kids were really good and so was dinner (mostly because I didn’t have to cook it). I think I am creating a sweet tooth in Aiden (or could he have been born with it?). When our ice cream came he was like a crazy maniac, bouncing up and down making “feed me” noises. I shared the whipped cream with him and he went nuts every time I put a spoonful in my mouth. Guess it was bound to happen sooner or later, he is just like his mommy : )
