Guess Who’s Coming to Lunch Again?

Crissy March 26th, 2006

Today we met Tara and Drew at Olive Garden for lunch, not for any other reason except we miss seeing them. I am trying to make sure we visit family and friends as much as we can because I don’t want to be one of those people who say, “We should get together,” but never do and later regret it. Just a warning, if you ever say that to me you will be getting a call to schedule a date, so have your calendar ready.

It is always great to see Tara and Drew. They just love Aiden and once he warmed up to them (he’s been having slight separation anxiety lately) he was thrilled to play peek-a-boo and other such games. He even let Drew hold him, for about a minute, as we were waiting to be seated but Aiden was hungry, and apparently mommy makes it all better.

We are so proud of Tara as she has been eating healthy and going to the gym (basically putting me to shame), subsequently losing a bit of weight. She was even good by not ordering a dessert (if I only had that will power). Drew and I on the other hand scarfed down our desserts (ok, Drew ate, I scarfed - are you happy now?). Chris would like to see me be a bit more reserved when it comes to eating. I can’t help it, I’m one of those people who love food. I don’t eat for emotional reasons, purely for the enjoyment of savoring each bite. (Enough of the food talk, I’m getting hungry!)

Anyway, before we left the restaurant I almost invited them to join us for a fabulous outing of grocery shopping. Not because I thought they would enjoy it, but because I enjoy their company and didn’t want to leave them yet. I refrained, thinking to myself, “How lame would that sound to join us to go grocery shopping. I mean they are a couple and do not need to tag along with a family to do errands.” Then, out of nowhere, Drew (or Tara, I forget) mentioned something about going to Target. Bingo! “May we join you?” flew out of my mouth before I even discussed it with Chris first. Well, needless to say everyone was game (Whew!) and off we went.

I’ll spare you the details of the shopping excursion, but once again we kept Aiden out way past his nap time. That’s what you get for being the youngest in a group, no say whatsoever.
