Ha ha...I love this post. This is great. It's gotten to the point, for me, that I only do it at night for a couple of hours after my son goes to bed. Anymore than that and I don't get anything else done.

I'm thinking of using the oven timer to set limits for myself.

Guilty as charged. I started with one, then looked at her links, and so on and so on...now I have about 10 "must reads" and 20 more "ok, just one more blog"s.

I actually feel kind of lucky I am blocked from reading blogs at work, or I would be fired by now for wasting all my time and never getting anything done.

It's definitely a struggle. I try to do it early in the morning before J wakes up or at night when she's sleeping, but I have the same problem you do. The more I read, the more I discover and before you know it, three hours have passed and there's a sink full of dishes and clothes spilling out of my luandry room.

I definitely have to fight the urge to chronically surf. I find if I close the computer, other things on the dining room table start to reveal themselves: dirty dishes, bills, old arts and crafts, etc. Check out flylady.net for tips on starting a morning and evening routine: I have been reading her for 6 mos and now it is finally starting to make sense to me! Plus the routines keep the disasters under control, at least. Love A.

Well, I don't know about blogs as I only really read this one on a regular basis but I can tell you that the Internet in general and message boards seem to be my soap operas. I'm ashamed to admit how much time I spend on the computer each day. I'm hoping impending motherhood makes me too busy to be wasting my time away on inane activities like web surfing but my fear is that I'll turn to those darn message boards even more in search of adult interaction.

I think it just has to do with the all the difference types of perspectives that you got from reading blogs.

Let me say this...don't listen to any podcasts. I just started getting every single podcast I could find for all my interests but don't have enough time to listen to them. I got my list down to 4 podcasts that I listen to weekly/monthly, depending on when they are updated.

I have the same experience with blogs and podcasts. One links to another and next thing you know, you have too much on your plate.

TIme to get back to my reality.
