Spring Fever

Last night and today Aiden has had a fever. He was up several times last night, but I am surprisingly in a good mood. It could have been the nap I took while Aiden was napping this morning. I feel bad for the little guy, he has two teeth making their way into his mouth and now he is plagued with having this fever. I believe it is also accompanied by some mild seperation anxiety, giving him the most pleasant disposition!

I’m kind of glad it is not nice out today. The sun is shining but it is pretty cold and windy. Since Aiden is sick, it’s better not to be tempted by warm weather. We will have plenty of days to romp and play outside as the cold weather breaks, so I’m not too bummed.

For those of you keeping track, we have crossed off quite a few items from our 3-day weekend list of things to do. The total items has gone up from 15 to 19 and so far we have crossed off 9 items. Six of them we have decided can be done during the week and two are just too time consuming to accomplish by this evening. Those two will have to be done next weekend, which leaves a remainder of 2 items to complete by tonight. Not too bad. Being flexible is the name of the game here, it makes for a happier home.

Welcome to Springtime

No, the weather has not gotten any warmer, but I am basking in the glow of spring colors. Welcome to my new design. I felt since I was going to be more out there, being featured on such sites as Parenting Ideas and soon to be on Parent Hacks, I should at least look professional.

My previous design was not quite complete, but I was in a mental design schlump. Thanks to the wonders of Word Press themes, the cost of this design was just too good to pass up…free! Not only did I find a design that struck my fancy, but I was able to make the necessary adjustments and make it my own. Thank you Chris for suggesting using the picture of Aiden I took the other day when we were at the park, it’s perfect!

So, enjoy the colors of spring and hopefully the weather will catch up to this new look.

Daddy’s Spring Break

Working at a college, but not as a teacher, only gets you one day off for spring break, not the entire week. So, today we thought we would make the most of Chris’s 3-day weekend. Our plan was to make a list and see how many things we could get done. Sounds simple enough.

Our list had about 15 (and counting) items on it. That averages about 5 things/day to accomplish. My day started out well, Aiden slept through the night and didn’t get up until around 8 am. I fed him and myself while we let daddy sleep. I felt great with a full night’s sleep and a list (I’m a sucker for a list) ready to be tackled. Only one thing to do, get started on the day. Again, it sounds simple enough.

Everything I tried to accomplished seemed to add more items to the list. I hit the proverbial road blocks left and right. I was getting frustrated and Chris was not enjoying his “spring break” day off. I had to get it together or something was going to explode, or someone (probably me). I abandoned the things I started and decided an outing was in order. Ah, we were tackling another item on the list and getting out of the house, much better!

Aiden went to bed an hour early and so we continued with the list. Now, it sounds like we actually crossed some things off, but when all was said and done, we were able to cross off two items. Two measly, piddly items were crossed off the list. Granted one of them was to complete the redesign of my blog, so it wasn’t a total loss. Tomorrow is another day.

A Blogging I Will Go

Today, between playing with the kids, managing the house and enjoying spring break, I found some time to add a few blogs to my daily exploring. Some are informational and some are personal. I feel like I need to start commenting on the sites that I frequent and hope that others will do the same for me. Here are some that I feel deserve highlighting:

Parent Hacks - A collaborative weblog of practical parenting wisdom.

Parenting Ideas - To inspire with ideas and practical tips on parenting. I happened to comment on two of the posts, Learn Sign Language With Your Baby and Sleep CD with Mother’s Heartbeat Sound. I was asked to elaborate on one of my comments so a full article could be posted. Here is what I wrote…HoMedics Relaxation Machine - Helps Sleep Quicker and Easier.

Daddy Detective - A father’s case log of deciphering clues to his daughter and parenthood. I just love the way it is written!

The Sweet Stuff - Nicey-nice stuff about the Patrick Girls. Dad gets honorable mention in this house.

Mom-101 - I don’t know what I’m doing either.

Motherhood Uncensored - No one ever said it was going to be easy. I was laughing so hard I almost cried at the post on Secret Agent Mom.

Red Stapler - Excuse me, I believe you have my stapler. I just love the reference to the movie Office Space, the rest of the site is pretty good too!

and of course the ever amusing tales from:
The Mommy Blog - Adventures from the wonder-belly of motherhood.

Enjoy and I will keep you posted on any other cool blogs/sites I come across. Of course, I feel as though it is a full-time job keeping up with my posts and catching everyone else’s posts. But what kind of mom would I be if I couldn’t multi-task?!?

No School Today!

Spring break is such a wonderful concept. Taking a break in the middle of the semester, nice! For the first time in I don’t know how long, I don’t have any projects to grade and I’m all caught up on my lesson plans. I don’t have to rush around today trying to get things ready to leave when Chris gets home. I can have a nice dinner at home and get to bed early so I can be bright-eyed for Matthew tomorrow.

The weather is getting cooler and so March’s lion is showing it’s teeth. The forecast is predicting some type of snow for Friday. I hope my students are somewhere warm this week. I also hope they are doing their homework. I know, I know…I’m a horrible teacher, giving them work over spring break. I will have my work cut out for me next week when I have to collect their projects. We shall see what next week brings.
