Sing Me A Play
Today Chris and I did something that we haven’t done in a while, we left the house without the baby. It was harder than I thought it was, but once we were out we were fine and so was Aiden.
We went to see the most amazing play! It was Shakespeare’s A Midsummer Night’s Dream done as a musical. Groovelily performed the music and took on acting roles as well. It was phenomenal! I love musicals and this just took the cake. My husband is a Shakespeare buff (he studied it in college) and even he was very impressed with this interpretation. The time period was about the 1700’s (with ball gowns and hunting expeditions) and the music was intertwined with Shakespeare’s language beautifully.
This play was special to us because this was the first play we ever saw together. It was a long time ago when we were at college, but it meant so much that Chris wanted to share his love of Shakespeare with me. Over the last few summer we have been fortunate enough to see Shakespeare in Park, but the contract was not renewed and we would not get to experience it this summer. So, thank you Shelia and Chris for asking us to join you today!
Aiden was lucky enough to have his favorite babysitter over for the day. Unfortunately Tara was not accompanied by her guy Drew. I’m sure Aiden missed him, but he didn’t seem to mind playing with Tara to the point of them both needing a nap! Thanks again Tara.
