Zig Zag

Crissy April 11th, 2006

Today I took Aiden out for lunch and we met my friend, Mary, and her daughter, Amanda. Amanda had off from school this week so it was nice to do something that didn’t confiscate an entire weekend. The weather was nice and I was glad to be getting out between Aiden’s naps. We had a wonderful lunch together, but the ride to and from drove me nuts!

Every single road I went on had some kind of construction on it. I waited in line while a “scooper” machine transfered dirt from one side of the road to the other. I manuevered around serveral orange cones telling me under no circumstances could I use the shoulder of the road. Don’t even get me started on how many slow moving trucks cut in front of me! I’m generally a patient person (right?), but something strange happens when I get into a car, I turn into a raving lunatic…

Hi. My name is Crissy and I am a road rager.

I just can’t help myself. I think it has to due with the fact that I am a control freak. I can’t stand it when I am bound by circumstances beyond my control. Why can’t they just drive the speed limit instead of 5-10 miles per hour under? What were they thinking pulling out in front of me like that? Can’t they see I have a baby in the back, their vehicles are tall enough. Wow, I think my blood pressure went up while I was typing! Need to take a breathing break…

When I took the baby classes during pregnancy I used to practice my breathing in the car in hopes that it would calm me down while I was driving. The breathing did help during delivery and I still use it while driving. Although I believe my son is going to think “sonofa” is a word, because that’s what I always say. I am able to censor myself before finishing the phrase, but I never can stop myself from letting most of it out. My Native American name should be “Little one with vehicular potty mouth” I believe everyone who is not driving the way I want them to is a jack***.

Yes, I can’t wait to hear what sounds come from of the back seat when he figures out that imitating mommy is fun.
