Ag Field Day

Crissy April 29th, 2006

I have been so excited about today because we brought Aiden to the annual Ag Field Day/NJ Folk Festival at our alma mater. It is always fun to visit the old college campus where we have tons of wonderful memories. Not only did Chris and I meet here, it’s also the place where he proposed and we got married. And to think they almost dissolved the school and merged into Rutgers, shame on them!

But I digress.

I was also excited because this was the first time we were taking Aiden to visit the college. He must have sensed my excitement as he woke up around 6 am. Fortunately I was ready to get up too since he allowed us to get a pretty good night sleep. He dutifully took a nap between 8:30-10:30 so we were able to get out at a decent hour without the fear of him being cranky or overtired.

We arrived and met our friends Tara and Drew. They had a special treat for Aiden, Hamlet, Tara’s dachshund, joined us and Aiden had a ball petting and playing with him. Aiden has recently taken a liking to dogs, but he is less scared of them up close if they are smaller than him. Which is why when we were watching the dog show he was more interested in hanging onto us then going after the dogs.

So we watched the dog show, grabbed some lunch on the lawn and headed back over to the animals. We saw some of Aiden’s friends (and their parents) when we arrived to pet the baby animals. Aiden was hysterical with the piglets because he was more interested in picking the hay out of the bale than petting them. He kept shooing them away from him with his hands. We were cracking up!

The day was beautiful, mid 60s with sun and a breeze. Perfect outside weather. It had been a very fulfilling and exciting day, which ended with me carrying a very sleepy boy to the car. Everyone had a great time and now it was time for us all to take a nap.
