					<description>I don't think the pressures are new now, they're just coming from different places. Moms-to-be used to learn from their older female relatives. It was family pressure to follow in the footsteps. Now we rely on classes, books, message boards and the internet, so the &quot;pressure&quot; comes from people who don't really care about us-- they care about themselves. They don't think that you're a bad mother for eschewing the class; they're worried that they're bad mothers for needing to go.

By the way, I skipped the newborn class, and the newborn seminar in the hospital. My daughter has survived to one so far so I think I can safely tell you yours will too.
