Bess You

Crissy May 2nd, 2007

So much time has passed since my last post. Holidays, birthdays and other special events that I will probably wish I wrote even a little bit to remember them by. As I was sitting here in class, allowing my students time to work on their final project, I realized that there are so many things I wish I could remember. Then it dawned on me that if I just jotted down a few things here and there, I would be able to hang onto my memories.

So, as the semester slowly fades away and the summer quickly approaches, I wanted to jot down a few things to keep the memories flowing…

Aiden will be turning 2 soon and as I reread some of the things I blogged about him, I realized how much he has changed. He is talking now. He is really able to communicate his opinions, which is completely amazing. I can ask him questions and he can answer me, sometimes with a thoughtful pause that shows he is really thinking about it.

I’m sure at some point I will not believe this when I read it, but he is sooooooo polite. I woke up before him this morning and as I was preparing for our day I sneezed and heard from his room, “Bess you!” Now how cute is that?!? He also says “peas” and “tank cue” without being prompted. Now, don’t get me wrong, he still needs prompting, but it’s nice to know that he is applying it when talking to others.

He already has one of the 2-year molars in and is working on another. I can’t wait to take him to his appointment to see what the doctor says. It will be nice when all his teeth are in, then maybe we can get some sleep around here! Wishful thinking, I’m sure. Nothing I haven’t complained about before.

Looking back, I thought time seemed to drag on to get to the point where Aiden could walk, let alone talk. Now I just savor every minute we are together because I know some day I will look back on these memories and think how quickly they went.

To all you mommies (and daddies) out there, doing everything you can to hold on to your memories, “Bess you!”
