Today we went to Island Beach State Park, our favorite place to spend time at the shore. We gave Aiden a choice of places we could go on our “adventure” and he chose a hike, but we convinced him that we could do a hike tomorrow as today would be a better day to visit the beach (holiday weekend and all). It was warm, but super windy. We set up the cabana and a great time was had by the four of us. Aiden voluntarily put his feet in the water (which was super cold by the way) and we were very proud parents as he was afraid of the water up until now. Alina played in the sand and it was a wonderful family day. Pizza Mike’s supplied dinner accommodations and the waitress recognized us from last season, so that was special too.
On our way home Aiden was complaining that it was taking too long to get to our house. We were actually about 10 minutes away from home, so I told him we were getting closer. His response, “We are still zoomed out and don’t tell me when we are zoomed in, I will tell you.”

My big boy is turning 4 today. I still remember the moment that I was sent to the hospital and the momentous birth of this most spectacular little being. This morning I told him (the abridged version) of how he came to be in this world and how happy we were to have him in our lives. He is trying to be independent and sometimes tests us by using his lovely vocabulary to let us know he is growing up, but all in all I am so very proud of my little man.
Sunday we had a wonderful birthday party at the park with both friends and family. It was chilly at the start, but the kids decorated kites and it wind was perfect for flying them. Yesterday he had his 4-year-old check up and was told he is one healthy kid. Today we went to the farm and met up with some friends. The kids had a great time chasing the geese (which he would never do in the past). It’s nice to be able to watch him grow up.
Happy 4th Birthday Aiden. We love you so very much!

Well, the last two weeks have been quite eventful for our little girl. Alina went from screaming whenever she was on her belly, to crab crawling to full blown crawling super fast. Talk about a fast learner! Alina however cannot be satisfied with that though. She is now pulling herself up to standing and is cruising around table, chairs or anything she can get her hands on! She will now let go once she is upright and balance for close to a minute without falling. I sense that walking is not far in her future!
In addition to all the physical momentum she has going, she just broke though tooth number four this week. She is handling them just like her brother. Every tooth is a mouth full of hurt.
It seemed like overnight that she went from screaming whenever we put her near the tub to splashing with her brother in utter pleasure. Thankfully we don’t have to fight her anymore in the water, but boy is she going from one extreme to another!
I hope this is not an indication of how her personality will develop. I’m not sure I am ready to handle such extremems with someone other than myself!
