Why?!?
Crissy July 16th, 2009
Well, Aiden has officially entered the “why” phase. He doesn’t just say “Why?”, oh no. He asks when he is missing something. For example, he was in the bathroom and I was playing with Alina when I told her, “No thank you.” Aiden called from the bathroom, “Why did you say No thank you to Alina? What did she do cause I couldn’t see it?” This kid is going to go crazy when he is in school and feels like he is missing a lot at home. Not to mention that I am going crazy explaining everything in simplistic yet descriptive ways. After the third why I tell him that we need to move on to another subject because Mommy needs to stop talking about the current issue. He is going to be one educated little tyke in preschool. I wish his teacher well!

Oh the why phase! My son is in the ‘what’ phase. He asks what everything is even when he knows darn well what it is. I’m dreading the ‘why’ phase. But hey, isn’t it great that they are so inquisitive? I hear that’s a sign of intelligence. What no one tells us is that while our children are exhibiting signs of intellect we mommy’s are slowly going insane.

Sounds very familiar, though now I am getting the reverse. As I explain very thoroughly why my oldest shouldn’t do something, she frequently tells me, “That’s enough talk about that, let’s move on.” I kid you not, just happened again today as I explained to her why she shouldn’t climb on the counter, stand up and get the lollipops from the shelf in the cabinet. I don’t know which is worse, the why’s, what’s or let’s move on’s. It’s all frustrating somehow.
