So Big!

Aiden has had such a productive week. He is cutting his two upper teeth, he is trying to sign, he has graduated from trying to crawl to actual crawling and he is attempting to master his balance by showing us he can stand unassisted for about 10 seconds. He never ceases to amaze me. I am just so proud of him!

It’s not going to be long before he can walk and talk. While I am very excited to see him grow up, I am also trying to savor every moment. I’m sure one day I am going to look back on this time and remember with teary eyes how wonderful it was to be a part of all his significant events. Until the next milestone.

2 for 1

Today was a very interesting day. Not only did I find one of Aiden’s upper teeth coming through, but his two front teeth are breaking the gums as I type. I poked my finger in to feel how things were coming and much to my surprise there are two teeth instead of one. When these come out he will have four chompers, two up and two down. Mental note, keep him away from my chin (he used to like sucking on it).

Aiden has also been practicing his crawling. He still does the skydiving when he gets frustrated, but the crawling is coming along. His favorite thing to crawl towards is my laptop. When he is playing in his bedroom I sometimes check my mail, the blogs, etc. and he makes a beeline straight towards it. His latest physical feat is being able to sit up when on his back or stomach. He’s such a strong little guy, well maybe not so little, but very strong. It’s still strange to find him standing in the crib inthe morning, but I’m sure I will get used to it.

Number Three Coming Through

Well, my hunch was correct. While I was teaching this evening, Chris noticed that one of Aiden’s upper teeth has started to come through. That is why he was getting up periodically at night. At least when this one completely comes in he will stop waking me up and we can all get some rest, at least for a while. That’s all for tonight, it’s late and I’m not sure if he will be getting up tonight. Good night.

Short But Sweet

Well, today is the day, it’s official. I had a great run up until now. Aiden has reduced his napping schedule from three naps down to two. I know, I know, some of you are thinking, “Hey, at least you get two (or even one)!” but I was able to get so much more done during the day!

Aiden has been sleeping through the night since he was one month old (I know, we’re very lucky) unless his teeth bother him (then it’s sporadic, I want mommy in my room, sleeping with blood-curdling screams in between). In the early months he used to eat, stay up maybe an hour and then sleep. I was in heaven, not because I didn’t want to be with him, but because I felt so productive.

He is much more active and fun to play with now, so this new awake time is nothing to complain about, but the house looks like a bomb hit it. I did take some time this mornig to do a yoga/pilates workout, thinking that I had time in the afternoon to clean/straighten the house. I guess I will have to wait until the weekend to catch up, when Daddy time is more available. Until then I can work on helping Aiden practice the art of crawling, currently he looks more like he’s skydiving.

An Ordinary Day?

Today started out as an ordinary day, Chris got up a little early to play and feed Aiden before work and I was able to sleep a few extra minutes. Chris came bounding in the bedroom with Aiden declaring, “Want to check out Aiden’s TEETH.” Well, apparently his second bottom tooth couldn’t wait and decided that a week and half was long enough to be behind the first.

Life with Aiden has been crazy and I thought something was up as he hasn’t been sleeping through the night. I can’t wait until all his teeth come in as I am not doing well with the broken sleep. In the large scheme of things I guess it isn’t that long, but I don’t like getting up at 4 in the morning! Hopefully he will stop hurting and I will be able to get a full night sleep.

By the end of the day we found out that our friends Todd and Michelle had a beautiful baby girl. We are so excited for them and can’t wait to start sharing the parenting experience. Her name is Angelina Valerie and was just a few ounces bigger than Aiden. We are going to see them on Friday and I can’t wait! Congratulations Todd and Michelle.
